To be seen by overseas employers as a strong candidate for overseas jobs is a must for any immigrant job seeker.

It can make or break your job search quest.

Unfortunately, most great candidates have a fantastic profile, but they are completely invisible and cannot be seen by overseas employers.

Visibility is currency!

In this video, I will reveal 5 ways to become visible to overseas employers and give you some real-world examples of how to implement each one and the successes of people who have done just that.

Remember, if you are completely overwhelmed and confused as an immigrant job seeker, and don’t know where to start, complete our quick questionnaire here.

There, we take a look at your details, see what can be done, and come back to you with a recommendation of how we can help.

Let’s get started on how to become visible to overseas employers!

Build an overseas audience

It is important to be seen by overseas employers.

You need an audience of very specifically selected, targeted employers overseas.

A great deal of research is necessary to identify and create this audience. The information about where to start with this research comes from your eligibility.

Let me give you an example:

If you are eligible to come to New Zealand, can work in the manufacturing and engineering industry and according to your eligibility must find work outside of Auckland, to gain points and qualify for residence, you must think about a location outside of Auckland where your ideal employers will be.

Then, you need to think about who the employers in that industry will be in that location.

Then, if your eligibility states that they must be registered sponsors, you need to find them in that industry in that location.

Once you have a list of 50-80 of those employers, you can start the work of building an audience.

This audience will consist of people inside those employers who can make decisions about hiring someone like you.

When you then create your exceptional profile, you will add content and your skills, abilities, etc, in front of them every day – this is how you will start to be seen.

You should be spending time in their presence in various ways, participating in discussions, sending content past them every day so they can see your skills and enthusiasm about your niche, etc.

Create a network to be seen by overseas employers

A network consists of individuals inside your targeted overseas employers.

For example, like you are watching scores of my videos – you are in my audience, but you may not be in my network, we may never have connected or spoken.

It means you have to network and create conversations and relationships with actual people inside your audience.

Remember, when a hiring manager has a vacancy, he is likely to go looking in the pool first. Then, he will ask his colleagues or others whether they KNOW of someone to approach.

You must be known to those people, trusted by them and they must be familiar with your eligibility, availability and skills. You will then receive recommendations and referrals.

This happens a lot in the world of work and job hunting.

In fact someone is 22times more likely to get a job this way, than applying for jobs online.

This is a very powerful strategy to be seen by overseas employers.

It helps the employer with quickly approaching someone, without spending time and money on advertising.

So, go find the person who is the hiring manager in that team, inside the targeted employers who you want to work for, or someone similar, even peers and colleagues

Here is an example of someone who has received a referral and interview as a result of this

Use hashtags to get featured in online communities and be seen by overseas employers

Recently, I created a whole video about how to use hashtags to become visible for overseas employers.

I have left a link to that videos here (gesture to left).

Hashtags are like small communities of people or organisations with similar interests.

Keep this in mind:

When you use hashtags, think about whether your potential employers will be using these hashtags too? For example, if you use the hashtag #immigrationnewzealand, it will be used by other immigrants, immigration advisers, etc, but will it be used by your prospective employers?

Maybe not.

Maybe, they will be using a hashtag that is relevant to their industry or sector. Therefore, you must research them and which hashtags they use, very well, and also use those specific hashtags for your posts and content on LinkedIn.

Get into employers’ pool to be seen by overseas employers

As I mentioned earlier, the pool is where your prospective employer will go first to hire.

Are you in their pool?

If not, do you know how to get into their pool?

Again, it requires a great deal of research, finding out what they want, preparing it for them and entering it into their pool.

This strategy is highly effective, especially at this stage where employers are cutting hiring costs, but struggling to find workers and preparing for next years’ projects.

Spend time in the presence of your employers to be seen by overseas employers

If you want to win someone’s trust, become likable, credible and be visible, you must spend time in their presence.

It is no difference in the world of online job searching.

You MUST find ways to spend time in the presence of your overseas employers to be seen by them.

Here is how:

Find out where they hang out online.

Is it online forums, webinars, seminars, groups, like LinkedIn groups, Facebook groups, or other places?

Do they regularly post on their LinkedIn page?

Can you also join these places, groups, and forums?

Here, you must ask questions, participate in discussions and even maybe answer some of the community questions and contribute information.

This will all contribute to your visibility, likeability, and credibility, and build trust with overseas employers.

This is a very sure way to be seen by overseas employers.

There you have 5 ways to be seen by overseas employers.
